Heatsink
[2024]
Thermal evolution of a computational process.
Brass, aluminum. Approximate dimensions: 35 x 35 x 70 cm.
Heatsink represents heat variations emitted by a processor during a computation process. 60 thermographic images, taken at one-minute intervals, were recorded using a thermal imaging camera. The images, reproduced on 60 aluminum plates, represent one hour's recording of thermal variations generated by the machine's operations.
The superposition of metal strata is similar to that of a heatsink used to cool electronic components. The decomposition of the layers reveals in three dimensions the temporal and thermal evolution of a computational system's activity, making visible both the energy trace and the physical imprint of the process.
